About Scottie Barnes
Scottie was born in Greenville, North Carolina. He’s been living in Raleigh, North Carolina since the age of two raised by a single mother. He knows all too well about the violence in the streets, because he was a part of it from the age of 14 to 30. He’s also a victim of gun violence more than once. Several of his friends died from gun violence. More than 10 friends are in prison for murder and one currently on death row.
He established a non-profit organization named “Katch the Kite” in 2018 to assist, guide, and mentor those like him after regaining his life. His first hand experience of being lost, with no one to talk to or look up to, is why he serves.
Through his inspiring speeches and community work, he has coached and helped thousands of people across many borders. He’s honored to be a team member on Boots. He’s ready to stomp for change!
Get Involved
Violence prevention is not something that can be done by some of us. It has to be taken on head first by all of us. Get involved in a growing movement of dedicated volunteers that are constructing safer, healthier homes, schools, and communities for our children.
